Warning Signs For Alcohol Abuse

"Everything in moderation," the saying goes. That saying has often been related to the consumption of alcohol, but what exactly is moderation? It can be difficult to see if your drinking has become problematic, so here are some signs that could mean it is time to seek treatment for your drinking problem.

2 Day Hangover

Did you drink enough over the weekend to leave you with a hangover that lasts more than a day? This is a very strong sign that your drinking has entered "binge drinking" status.

Drinking Cheaper Alcohol to Afford More of It

This may seem like an obvious sign, but many people do not even realize they are doing this at the time, and simply see it as a way of saving money, not that they are stocking up for a lot of alcohol.

Drinking to Handle Situations

Have you ever been scheduled to be in a certain situation at a certain time, and drank alcohol to prepare for that event? Whether you believe it is harmless, self-medicating, or just a bracer, that "needing" is a sure sign of a possible alcohol abuse problem.

Painkillers Don't Have To Run Your Life Any Longer

Painkillers are one of the hardest drugs to get off of. You can get them from doctors or buy them on the streets, and it gets hard to quit them when you've been taking them for a while. Here are some tips to help you out.

When you first quit you're going to feel really sick. This can be helped if you get a doctor to give you the medication that you need to make the withdrawals not as harsh. They may give you something that works like a painkiller, but it's mainly for getting off of the drugs that you're on so don't count on it getting you high or anything. If you're looking to get high at this step of things, then you're not going to be able to easily quit. Take your time and work with this addiction and when you're done you'll feel so much better.

Once you're clean from the drugs you're going to want to relearn how to live life without being high all the time. You need to cut yourself off from friends that use so that you're not tempted to. You should also make it a point to get rid of everything in your home that reminds you of using. Don't allow yourself to get too bored and find a lot of hobbies that you'll enjoy doing. You'll be so happy once you're clean that you'll wonder why you were a painkiller abuser in the first place!

Now that you've read this advice on an addiction to pain meds, you can work on getting better. The future is going to be a lot easier to live through once you put this advice to good use. Good luck and let's hope you kick this soon!

Alcohol Abuse Treatment

The use of alcohol is very widespread, and therefore people see it as safe. But the truth is that alcohol abuse is one of the biggest problems facing American society, with over 25,000 alcohol related deaths every year. That figure does not include people dying as a result of an accident while drunk, or alcohol induced homicide.

Regular drinking is not considered to be a problem, as long as it is kept within the levels recommended by the Government. However, there are at least 12 million alcoholics in the US, who are physically and emotionally dependent on alcohol. The number may be even higher than this, as alcoholism often goes unnoticed for a long time, since the more obvious side effects can take some time to manifest.

A person is considered to have an alcohol addiction if their relationship with alcohol is having a detrimental impact on their everyday lives, their health or their psychological wellness. For instance, if a person will only go out with their friends if they are going somewhere which serves alcohol, it may be a sign that they have a dependency on drink. Or the person may be unusually irritable or suffering mood swings.

Once the addiction really takes hold, the problem becomes more easy to spot. A person may lose interest in anything other than drinking, and there may be noticeable physical effects such as weight loss or tremors. At this stage, getting professional help is a must.

Alcohol abuse treatment can be a long process. The withdrawal symptoms are unpleasant, which can make the treatment program difficult to stick to. In the most serious cases, medication will be required to relieve the withdrawal side effects. A person may need continued support for many months, or even years, as the impact on the brain is so strong that relapses can occur even after several years.

LSD Use Skyrockets Among Teens

What drug is not making a comeback? It seem like I'm always reading reports about how some old school drug is finding a new fan base with today's youth. Unfortunately, this is true of PCP, heroin, crack cocaine and LSD. Of all the drugs that are making a comeback, I am not shocked that LSD use is on the rise because many of he designer drugs have similar effects as LSD. Once a person has tried ecstasy and its derivatives, LSD is a bit of a natural progression. I am not a fan of gateway drug theories but it does seem like ecstasy is a natural gateway to stronger drugs like LSD. For the most part, LSD has the same "low risk" reputation, save for bad trips and many teens are attracted to its stronger trip and all the stories of rock stars who went mad on this drug and all the good music that came from that era.

THE DANGER

What they don't realize are all the people who died doing stupid things on this drugs, like people who thought they could fly or the bad trips that have lead people into mental hospitals. LSD is not a harmless drug and a bad trip is not the only negative side effect of this drug. You rarely hear about LSD rehab but it is available. People who become addicted to using LSD have more psychological based addiction markers than a physical addiction to the drug and rehab will help them with their addiction.

CONCLUSION

These drugs are illegal for a reason and should not be used by anyone. If you want help, we can help you. We can help you unchain yourself from drug addiction. You can live a better life and we are here to help you.

When you want to quit drinking alcohol, know that it's going to be dangerous just to quit cold turkey if you've been drinking for a long time. This is something that you need to talk to a medical professional about because it can have detrimental effects on your health if you don't do things correctly. People tend to think they can just quit and it will all work out, but that's not the best thing to do. Always get help with quitting from a doctor or someone that can help you so you don't get hurt when you're trying to quit.

Tell yourself that you're going to quit and make sure you look for the signs that you're abusing alcohol. If you have to have a drink just to function, then you probably are dealing with an issue. If you drink on binges for some reason, then that's another reason why you may be an alcoholic. Just because people don't notice that you drink doesn't mean that you don't have a problem. If you are drinking for any reason and can't stop yourself, then you may need to go get some help with this before it gets to be out of control.

Working on an alcohol abuse problem shouldn't be hard for you now that you have some information about it. In the end the best thing to do would be to get some help with it. Use this advice and you'll do just fine in the end.
